What is the distinction between euthanasia, orthothanasia, dysthanasia and palliative care?

Orthanasia

This concept refers to a natural way of dying, which means it is about not doing invasive procedures to artificially prolong life.

Dysthanasia

To prolong the life of a terminally ill patient through disproportionate treatments. This practice is forbidden by the medical code of ethics (chapter 2, article 65).

Physician Assisted-Suicide

When a health professional (a physician) furthers a patient’s death by providing the necessary information and means to enable the ill patient to make himself the act of ending his life.

Palliative Care

It’s a response to problems that occur due to prolonged, incurable and progressive disease. The goal is to reduce the suffering of the patient (and his family), providing him with the maximum quality of life possible.
